Have completed assignment. Article attached. Make what you can of it. Leaving Caswell Crossing promptly. Returning to office eventually. Respite required. Not sure what I did to upset our employer, must have been a doozy. Present my apologies. And a gift. Will repay. Whatever it takes. Condition: do not reassign to interview Gideon Fletcher— on NO terms. Will gladly cover: sewing groups, weather, similar. No poetry readings, that’s going too far.
P.S. Whatever my sins, recommend avoid at all costs. Employer’s sense of humor more sideways than previously known.

Between the Rivers
Between the Rivers is a tough place to be, at least it is for Gideon. You see, he’s disinclined to share details. Any details. About. . . anything. Of course, some things he just plain does not know. Such as where he’s from, or what year it is. This bothers him not at all.
Nor does it bother him that the good folks of Caswell Crossing are dead sure he’s guilty of rustling anything that walks, flaps, or hops.
It doesn’t even bother him that the sheriff says he’s guilty of ‘Willfully’. Willfully anything. On multiple counts.
No. What has Gideon vexed is the Rivers. They’re a pure nuisance. His life has only one purpose: he’ll do whatever it takes to find an ounce of justice. They’ll do whatever it takes to keep him alive.
Life, being in possession of a uniquely peculiar sense of humor, has handed Gideon precisely what he does not want, exactly when he needs it most.
